Cobb Ridge Campground lies in the center of Chadwick Motorcycle & ATV Use Area. Nearly 80 miles of ATV, motorcycle, or mountain bike trails, wind in and out of deep, forested hollows and down long ridge tops. There are many steep hollows, caves and springs in the immediate vicinity of the campground that deserve exploring. Camping: Open year round. Campground host is on-site throughout most of the managed season. There are 50 campsites, 35 with electric hookups. Most are well-separated and naturally screened from adjacent units; some are located in groups of two or three sites. Traditional back-in units and pull-throughs are available; RV’s up to 40 ft. in length can be accommodated. Camping fees are $10 for stes with no electric; $15 for sites with electric.In 2009, Cobb Ridge will undergoing renovations. Due to the renovations, the campground will not be on the reservation system from July 6, 2009 – November 30, 2009. Site availability will be on a first come, first serve basis. Once started, the District will provide weekly updates of progress on this website. Facilities: Many campsites can be reserved through the National Recreation Reservation System at: 1-877-444-6777 (toll free) or on the internet at http://www.recreation.gov. For more information you can also call the Ava park ranger station at 1-417-683-4428. Sites not reserved are available on a "first come, first served" basis. . Reservations are taken from 3/1 through 11/30. Drinking water, vault and flush toilets and showers are centrally located within the campground. Reservation system forthcoming in Spring 2008. Picnicking: Camp Ridge Recreation Area is a Day Use Only site that provides both individual picnic areas, containing tables with fire rings or grills, and a trailhead for the Chadwick ATV/Motorcycle Area. KC Pavilion, near the Cobb Ridge Campground, is also available for day use on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no fees for this day use. Trails: The Chadwick Motorcycle and ATV Trail System can be accessed directly from the campground using the available trailheads. Most of the almost 80 miles of motorized trails stay on the ridge tops or hollow bottoms, with connecting trails crossing side slopes. Some trail sections offer greater challenge than others. These challenging trails are indicated on the Chadwick Area map by black diamond marker at the intersection where the trail begins. Please do not travel closed routes, or go off the trails. Only numbered trails are open for riding. Hill climbing is not allowed. Helmets are required for riders under 18, and recommended for all others. How to get here: From Chadwick, MO, take Hwy 125 south 1.5 miles, then turn right onto Hwy H and continue passed Camp Ridge Recreation Area turning right onto Lookout Road (formally Forest Road 171) to Cobb Ridge Recreation Area. Open all year. No trash containers; please pack out all your trash. Recommended season being spring to fall and this facility is managed from 3/1 thru 11/30.
